What is a Chatbot?
A chatbot is a computer program that uses artificial intelligence to have a conversation with another person. They have started to increase in popularity after a few messenger apps, including Facebook, started allowing bots to have conversations with you on your devices. Big brands have just started developing and releasing chatbots to interact with their fan bases.
The power behind chatbots lies with how much time we spend in messenger applications. Messenger apps are more used now than actual social networks. You should want to build where the people are, and right now that is inside messaging applications.
We also tend to have too many apps on our phones already. If you think about all the apps on your phone, you may realize you only use around 3 to 5 of them. Chances are good that at least half of the apps you use are social networks, so why not build for those apps without having to try to compete with them?
Insurance Meets Bots
Chatbots are already being used in the insurance industry. There have been bots made to help automate the claim process, schedule appointments, and even to automate underwriting. Brands have been using chatbots to enhance their customer experience because it provides users a quick and easy way to get the information they need. Customers have found well-designed chatbots to be an ideal customer support tool, because they are available 24/7 and are going to get back to customers instantly.
You can utilize a chatbot to further engage your core audience and communicate with them during times when they are not on their other social media platforms. Chatbots can be used as customer service reps or they can actually help you in a quoting process. Right now bots are not a must-have if you are an independent insurance agent or small agency. However, it’s always important to be aware of where technology is heading and to keep your eye on current trends.
